The collection consists of a folder containing nine mounted items, including: large photograph of oil painting of Norma Keating, with clipped autograph mounted below; clipping about the Shinhopple Wild Life Project, 19 Apr. 1938, originally written for the New York Herald Tribune by Charles T. White; five typescript poems, inspired by the Shinhopple region, undated, including Fern Pickers, Shinhopple Saga, Tim'thy-American, As Told By Johhannathan, and an unititled poem; letter to Dear friend [Henry Shoemaker], Tuesday, postmarked 1938, describing her recent trip through upstate New York with news of her and her husband, accompanying three photographs of her; letter to Dear Colonel Shoemaker, 22 June, 1940, describing her recent travels and her observations of an ant.

Author Norma Keating was born in New York City, educated at City College, and lived mainly in New Jersey. She became a journalist, working variously as a reporter, columnist, art critic, and writing advertising copy, and later worked as a publicity director.
